PE and Sports Funding

Purpose of the premium

The Sports Premium must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

We must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, sport and physical activity they provide (As outlined in the most recent DFE guidance)

This means we use the PE and sport premium to:

  • Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now are sustainable and will benefit pupils joining the school in future years
  • Develop or add to the PE, sport and physical activity that your school provides

Key indicators

  • PE and sport premium will be used to secure improvements following these 5 key indicators:
  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
  • The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  • Broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities offered to support pupils
  • Increased participation in competitive sport

Please see our comprehensive outline of sports funding for 2023-24 below and how we intend to use it to make a long term difference to our pupils and whole school community.
